What are you working on right now?

Goal setting can feel daunting if you lack the right formula or mindset to achieve it.

Productivity means nothing without purpose.

As discussed in the book Principal in Balance many of us approach goal setting with optimism but often fall short or fail due to lack of attention to our plans and objectives.

Here are a few frameworks to reconsider your goals, whether starting, restarting, or removing them. Remember that perfection isn’t the goal; you just need a strategy to propel you forward.

SMARTER Framework As a Full Focus Certified Pro, I utilize this template with coaching clients to hone in on their goals. Building upon the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound) criteria, this framework adds two more letters: Exciting and Risky. For instance, educators are increasingly recognizing the importance of incorporating self-care and soul-care into their routines. Any goal in this realm can be both exciting and risky as it challenges the status quo of overwork culture.

Start-Stop-Continue-Improve This framework is ideal for goals that seem stalled. Ask yourself four questions to identify roadblocks or barriers hindering goal achievement. If you’re facing inertia with a current goal, use this framework to overcome paralysis and regain productivity.

Set Goals with WOOP Derived from a student prompt used at Austin Online Academy from Along , WOOP (Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan) is a method to help students achieve their goals. Adults can benefit from this approach, too. Challenge yourself and your team by incorporating WOOP into an end-of-year staff meeting. Set short-term goals with lasting impacts on personal or professional life to finish the year strong and start the summer rejuvenated.

Achieving our goals not only brings personal fulfillment but also contributes to the greater vision we have for ourselves and the positive impact we seek to make in our communities and organizations. By aligning our goals with our values and aspirations, we can create a roadmap for living a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Here if you need me,
